The office of Retired
USAR JAG LTC Thomas J. Lyons, Sr. has recruited a superior team of attorneys to
provide focused legal services to service men and women and their families with
legal problems that have arisen prior to, during and after their military service.
These problems
include Debt Collection/Creditor Harassment, Privacy Abuses, Inaccurate Credit
Reporting Issues, and related consumer protection matters. In
addition, we handle military medical negligence claims for retirees and military
dependents whether injured overseas or in the continental United States [CONUS].
The most common types of injuries we prosecute are for Claims such as birth injuries,
surgical mishaps and failure to promptly diagnose. |

We
are available on line and by phone 24/7 to dependents of members of the National
Guard and Reserves, as well as military personnel on active duty. With many National
Guard soldiers and reservists now returning from duty in the Middle East, the
program has attracted renewed interest. While
it is true that all active-duty (and in some instances, reserve) soldiers, sailors,
airmen, marines, and their family members, are eligible for limited free legal
assistance provided by the full time Judge Advocate General's Corps stationed
at military posts, not all family legal problems can be processed promptly or
efficiently through the Military system. The
mission of every active duty Legal Assistance Office is to help, advise, and counsel
eligible persons with their personal legal matters. Personal legal matters include
the preparation and execution of wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical
directives, and counseling on family law, landlord/tenant law, some consumer credit
transactions, real property transactions, and federal and state taxation. In
many situations, military legal assistance attorneys cannot resolve the immediate
problem and may not be instantly accessible. Military regulations restrict the
Military Lawyers' ability to represent service members in civilian court, or to
prepare documents that will be filed with a civilian court. In those situations
and for claims against the Government itself, it will be necessary to obtain the
assistance of an attorney from the private sector who has the focus, experience
and knowledge to assist service members with the claims process and court appearances,
procedures and with filing court documents. That
is where our team comes into the picture. We are ready, willing and especially
able to assist Military Families deal with legal issues that confront and frustrate
them. |
